Our Healer
In Acts 3:6 we read: “Then Peter said, Silver and Gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee; In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
When Peter and John invoked the power in the name of “Jesus Christ” to heal the lame man, great miracles happened instantaneously. “Immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” Acts 3:7-8.
There was no disease that could withstand Jesus’ power. Lepers were cleansed, fevers vanished at His touch. Unclean spirits fled from before Him. Instant healing came to those sick of the palsy. Insanity and devil possession, deafness and lameness, all went away when Jesus, the Great Physician was near or when His name was invoked by those who truly believed in its power.
Issues of blood were stopped, blind eyes were opened, and dumb tongues were healed by our savior – of whom it was said: “Never man spake like this man.” John 7:46." Preaching the gospel and healing the sick went hand-in-hand in the work our Savior performed.
Today, if we are obedient to God’s word, we too can say: “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.” James 5: 14-15.
A brief prayer for today:
“Blessed savior, help me to be more like you in my daily living, so I can be more like you in my daily healing also. Help me to truly believe in your healing power and increase my faith today."
"Thank You Lord."
Amen.
