The Light of Life...

I Peter 1:21 - "Who by Him do believe...that your faith and hope are in God".

We get so used to this world that we lose sight of the next. We get so used to the darkness and chaos of this world's suffering and violence that we lose sight of the brightness of He who alone could say: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12).

Jesus Christ is the "Lamb of God" who takes away the "sins of the world" (John 1:29). He alone is the Hope of the hopeless, the Savior of the lost, the Guide of the wandering. He alone is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of all we need to overcome this world and make heaven, not hell, our final resting place.

Hebrews 1:3 states: "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”.

Today world leaders struggle will almost insurmountable problems - and they will continue to do so until this world ends. But in the midst of this world's persistent darkness, never lose sight of of Jesus Christ.

Recall that Peter walked on water while he kept his eyes on Jesus Christ, and only began to sink when he looked down. At that moment Peter questioned the very power that enabled him to walk on water - much as we often do today.

For as long as we keep our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ, we can do anything and with faith as a mustard seed, we can tell mountains to get up and be cast into the midst of the ocean.

A prayer for today:

"Lord, give me the courage to trust you completely and so keep my eyes on you despite all that may be going on around me.

And so despite the storms and the winds and the rain that come against my life, that I will hear the words "be still" and will thus come through all that comes to make me fit for thy Kingdom.

Help me to build my life on the rock Christ Jesus and so it will never fail.

Amen."
