Given all the different circumstances and global challenges we see arising today, some may be forgiven for thinking God has lost His control over what transpires in the world, or they might even be led to ask "Is it simply that He is permitting some other agency to have its way?".
When we look back at the Old Testament, we see where God seemed to be much more involved in the lives of those that lived during that era. As man has descended deeper and deeper into Sin, God has hid, as it were, His face from them.
But being a LOVING GOD, and thus in the FULLNESS OF TIME, the scriptures states that God sought for an advocate to save man from eternal damnation - for the WAGES of SIN was and is still DEATH, and the GIFT of GOD was and is still ETERNAL LIFE.
The Bible tells us: "And I [GOD] looked, and there was none to help; and I [GOD] wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore MINE OWN ARM brought salvation unto Me; and My fury, it upheld Me."
God simply had to find a way - at ALL COST - He had to find a way to SAVE US - WHY? - HE LOVED US TOO MUCH TO LET US PERISH!
He had searched and found none worthy for the task to bring us back to Him. When GOD said and "MY FURY, it UPHELD ME" - He was speaking of HIS ANGER at OUR CONDITION. He was FULL OF FURY or WRATH at how far we had fallen from Him. In fact, all me by then were being "...Born in Sin and Shapen in Iniquity". It was too much for Him to bear!
When GOD said "MINE OWN ARM" - He meant He had no choice but to come HIMSELF in the form of HIS OWN SON. From this you get a better understanding of why Jesus said in John 10: verse 30: "I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE". There is a deeper message here - of which I am only scratching the surface...
We later see even more proof of who came to save us when
we read St John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him [read Genesis Chapter 1 on WHO created the world]; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:14 goes on to state: "And the WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." -
CONCLUSION: Jesus Christ was God incarnate.
Since then, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Intermediary between Man and God, has come to earth, dwelt among men, been crucified, risen bodily from the dead, and ascended back up to heaven.
But...before He returned to the FATHER, He declared: "Behold I am with you ALWAY [meaning - ALL THE WAY], even unto the end."
To the world, God may seem to have taken a step back from man, but to the true believers, the Lord is STILL - IN EVERY WAY STILL WITH US much as GOD was with the Prophets of the Old Testament.
The HOLY SPIRIT Versus the SPIRIT OF EVIL or THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD
While the Lord tarries (i.e., before His return or His second Coming) the scriptures let us know that there are "TWO OPPOSING SPIRITS" at work in the world in this dispensation.
The FIRST is the "HOLY SPIRIT" who is engaged in gathering out the elect body of the CHURCH from the world. And the second is the "SPIRIT OF EVIL".
In I Corinthians 2:12 the bible refers to them as the "SPIRIT WHICH IS OF GOD," and the "SPIRIT OF THE WORLD". In 1 John 4: 5-6, the "SPIRIT OF TRUTH" and the "SPIRIT OF ERROR"."
The Spirit of Error is the source of all the "STRONG DELUSIONS" (2 THESSALONIANS 2:11) that are in the world today, and as the "End of the Age" draws near those delusions are being rapidly multiplied. We now need to be more vigilant than ever before not to be caught up in these nets.
In Matthew 24:24 the Bible states: "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Indeed it has become increasingly more difficult to tell he difference between true and false doctrines in the churches today.
In fact, just as the true church is indwelt and guided by the "HOLY SPIRIT", so the world outside the church is indwelt and guided by the "SPIRIT OF THE WORLD".
Jesus Christ gave clear instructions on how we ought to deal with the latter when He said; "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."
Let us endeavor, more so now as the "TIME OF THE GENTILES IS CLOSING", to live lives that clearly demonstrate that we have been redeemed from the "SPIRIT OF THE WORLD" and that we are now redeemed and SET FREE by the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST.
A brief prayer in Spirit and in Truth:
"Father, help me to stand on Your Word and to live a life that pleases You. To come out from the world and to honor You with my whole life.
Even more so, help me to remain focused on you when so much is happening around me that you would seem furthest from my mind.
Teach me how to pray and show me how to lift up YOUR standard in my life so that it is pleasing in Thy sight.
And let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight O' Lord.
I ask these mercies in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and Soon Coming King."
